Chapter 7

Mozart’s mouth hung open. “I can’t believe it,” she said. “I made him worse.”

PJ now had wings. Each wing was wide, brown, and feathery. They sprouted out from the top of his shoulders.

“Jeez! Those things look like they belong on an owl or a hawk or something!” Esteban couldn’t hide the shock in his voice.

“I guess you need big wings if you’re going to get a pig off the ground,” Lucy observed.

PJ flapped his new wings and hovered above them. He tried to fly forward but he could not coordinate his movements. He stopped flapping and dropped like a rock. His piggy feet ran wildly, but they were no help in the air.

PJ was going down, snout first.

Mozart ran towards him. “He’ll crash!”

“Flap your wings!” shouted Lucy. She moved her arms up and down as if she could fly for him.

PJ’s eyes opened wide. Then, he began to flap those wings like crazy. Little by little, he rose back up into the air.
